One search on Google and you will see plenty of content writing websites that are always looking for writers to add to their content mill factory. One such company is called Zerys. Zerys is an old-timer in the world of the internet, having been created way back in 2007. It’s been in this business for quite some time now but isn’t as loud as its competitors in terms of marketing.

And while it’s not as popular as its competitors, it has held a pretty steady stream of traffic the past couple of years. Only now was I able to hear of this company, actually. The former is the more popular choice since directly messaging the client isn’t exactly a good look especially when applying for the job. Becoming a writer for Zerys isn’t exactly a hard endeavor. It’s very much similar to the most popular content mill websites out there. You sign up using your email, you get a verification link, you click it and be directed to your profile, which you then have to fill out. It’s basically the same as anywhere else.

The main difference between content mill websites in terms of the application process is the requirement. Some companies require their freelancers to pass several tests before they get accepted into the program. The difficulty of the tests depends on the website, of course.

As for Zerys, to pass their screening process, you would have to submit an original article that is related to the category you chose in your writing profile. That is a very difficult question to answer. There are just too many factors to consider like how much are you willing to spend on writing, and how many gigs you qualify for. I could give you a number but it would be more like a range, which I assume won’t really be that helpful as far as giving you an idea of what to expect.

Suffice it to say, Zerys is a popular pocket money website. This means that the average user on this website doesn’t expect to earn a salary. The best-case scenario is they become one of the very few top writers who can earn a good salary but those are just a handful of people, like 1 in 10,000.

The Verdict – Is Zerys A Scam?

No. Zerys is not a scam. It is a legitimate writing service that’s been in the business for 13 years now.

It is currently experiencing several issues like delayed payments and inconsistent writing gigs availability. If you read reviews online, you will see plenty of users claiming Zerys isn’t what it used to be. Perhaps that’s because of the competition in the industry now.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – writers aren’t being appreciated online. They don’t get paid well. And clients would usually screw them over, asking for add-ons that weren’t in the first contract. Zerys is no different. They value their clients more than their writers. This means that clients wield all the power in every transaction.

A 1-star rating has the potential to tank your profile and clients known it, hence, they can squeeze every penny. Unfortunately, Zerys won’t do anything about it, and for anything, to be honest. Their customer support has been non-existent for the past couple of years now.
