Verdict: It is a not a scam but if you are looking to earn more than $5 in one month, you should look elsewhere.
For the majority of us, living comfortably in one income is going to be hard. It’s doable but you need to have a good job for that to happen. Gone are the days where a family can live off from one salary. Those days are long gone.
Today, you either need to have a good job or a side hustle to live comfortably. Unfortunately, most of the jobs available today would require most of your time, ultimately limiting your free time to do all some side work.
This is the main reason why there seems to be a surge in GPT (Get Paid To) companies on the internet. These websites basically provide you with an opportunity to make some money on the side. All that’s required is a stable internet connection and you’re good to go.
One of the companies that have been seeing a steady rise in traffic the past couple of years is called Spare5. It’s a relatively new GPT company that is app-based. This means that it caters only to people with access to smartphones. The main reason why I decided to review this today is many of my readers have been requesting a review for quite some time now.
In this article, we are going to take a look at this company to see if it’s worth your time or not. There are plenty of GPT companies to choose from and most of the pay by the pennies. Of course, you would want to work for a company that pays fairly – and that’s one of the main criteria that I’ll be using for today’s review.

What Is Spare5?
Spare5 is a relatively new GPT company. It is an app-based GPT which you can easily access through your phone. It was actually designed with this in mind to cater to people on the go. Most people own smartphones nowadays and it’s pretty easy to access the internet if you want to. They are banking on this constant connectivity to get their product popular in the working class.
This app has been making some noise in the GPT arena because it’s a bit unique in a matter that it isn’t tied into a website. You can access it through your phone which gives it a huge advantage in terms of accessibility. Anyone with a phone can just download the app and start doing surveys or whatnot.
Compare that to the usual GPT company which requires you to log into the website, search for gigs to do, then finish them. For Spare5, you just open your app anywhere you are.
What Should You Expect From Spare5?
Spare5 being a new website means that it has modern style. It has that modernized simplistic look that makes browsing a breeze. The dashboard is easy to navigate so you won’t have to worry about getting lost in there.
Their website is full of ads and promotions though. Perhaps the revenue from the ads makes the app more profitable.
They don’t disclose the number of members they have but from what I’ve read about this company, they have a pretty sizable base. Suffice it to say, expect to have some competition when you download this app. It’s just like any other GPT websites out there – limited supply and endless demand.
How Does Spare5 Work?
Spare5 basically will give you a task that you need to finish. After you finish the task, you will receive a payment in the form of XP points. You can then exchange these chips to cash.
The XP Points you will earn depends on the kind of task you finish. Here’s the different types of tasks you can do in the app.
- Annotation – tagging, keywording, and bounding box drawing of objects
- Categorization – you basically categorize items based on the instructions given
- Phone Survey – this requires you to talk on the phone to obtain the information that they need
- Rating – you give an in-depth review of a product
- Research – do research online
- Writing – write a small description about a product, item, or apps
- This is listed based on payment in descending order. Obviously, the more effort you need to finish a task, the better the pay will be.
There’s another way to earn though – and that is by promoting the product via affiliate marketing. If you successfully recruit someone to use the program, you will earn a commission.
However, at the time of this writing, Spare5 has put their referral program on hold. This is probably due to the volume of recruits they have accumulated.
You have many options for withdrawing your earnings. You can opt for Amazon gift checks, Payza, Dwolla, or even Paypal.
How Much Can You Earn Using Spare5?
The thing about GPT companies is there is no way to predict how much can you earn because of so many factors.
The first thing that you need to consider is the availability of gigs. There are days wherein the number of available gigs is way lower than average, and there are times wherein the number is overwhelming. There is certain volatility to this market which makes it hard to predict how much you can earn.
Although I cannot really provide you with a concrete number, I can tell you from experience that you will not earn a good amount of money from this gig. For rating and research, their most popular gig, the payment ranges from $1 – $5, but leans more to the side of $1. For this estimate, we can be liberal and make it around $3.
If you go to their website every day and somehow manage to score one survey per day, that would only amount to $3/day. That’s only if all things fall into place. The truth is, you’d probably just get 5 gigs per month maximum, and that’s not even considering your competition which is just as eager as you to score some survey.
Overall, the amount you will earn is basically negligible, unfortunately.
What I Think About Spare5
If I were being honest here, I’ve never seen a GPT app do well in terms of providing their users with a respectable amount of earning. Some of them are only good for pocket money and an overwhelming majority can’t even make you earn $1.

- Their surveys don’t pay well, certainly well-below the market average
- Limited number of gigs available
- Inconsistent number of opportunities
The truth is, there really is nothing much to say about this program because it’s too plain and generic.
The Verdict – Is Spare5 Worth Your Time?
Before I give you an answer, I first need to tell you that you should not expect much from GPT companies. Yes, you can earn money from it but it’s not enough to even consider it a part-time job.
That being said, my rating for this program will be relative to the GPT industry as a whole. As such, I would give this program a “not worth checking out” rating.
There are just too many issues about this program. The biggest and probably the most pressing issue is the fact that it doesn’t pay much. Compared to its competitors, it’s not even close.
There are better alternatives out there. If you spend some time looking for a good money-maker online, you can easily come up with a list of better GPT websites on your own.
Alternative To GPT Websites
